Shelter in Gillette Park

Cherokee's parks offer many opportunities for enjoyment for all residents and visitors. Gillette Park, home of the Bacon Aquatic Center, a favorite of young and old alike! The aquatic center, new in 2007, has a zero-entry pool with children's features including a sand play area and splash pad. Older swimmers enjoy a flume slide as well as an enclosed tower slide. See the Bacon Aquatic Center page for more information.

Contained within Gillette Park is a new, large playground area, a walking trail, and an open shelter with tables and benches for your enjoyment. The Centennial Shelter is available for

Walking Path in Koser Spring Lake Park

your picnic gathering, reservation fee for this shelter is $30 for 5 hours or less, $50 for more than 5 hours, or it is available on a first come/first serve basis at no cost (as long as it is not reserved.)

 Koser Spring Lake Park, located near the Little Sioux River, contains over 48 camping spaces with electrical, water and sewer hookups, and nearby shower and restroom facilities. Circling the lake is a 1.1 mile asphalt walking/jogging trail. Playground equipment, sand volleyball court, and fishing opportunities await visitors.

Camping fees:

  1. Full Hook-Up camping sites (water, sewer, and electric): $25 per night (14 day stay maximum)
  2. Water and Electric camping sites: $22 per night (14 day stay maximum)
  3. Tent camping: $10 per night (7 day stay maximun)
  4. Monthly rate: $600 (designated spots only with permission from City Administrator)

ALL FEES MUST BE PAID IN ADVANCE.

Campground is first come, first serve.

Due to the June 2024 flood, we are not taking reservations for the Yacht Club. 

The Yacht Club (opened in June 2013) is available for all types of gatherings such as family and class reunions, wedding receptions, bridal and baby showers, business meetings and events. Daily rental is $150. Kitchen facilities available (no stove). Capacity of 80.

Spring Lake Playground

Also available in Spring Lake Park is the open shelter (constructed in 2014). Electricity is available in this shelter. Reservation fee for this shelter is $30 for 5 hours or less, $50 for more than 5 hours, or it is available on a first come/first serve basis at no cost (as long as it is not reserved.)
