The mission of the Cherokee Parks Department is to protect, enhance and expand the City's parks, open spaces and environmental feature to improve the community's health, environment, appearance, image, character, economy and overall quality of life.
Parks
Koser Spring Lake Park, located along Hwy 59 adjacent to the Little Sioux River, features 40 camping spaces with full-hookups, shower and restroom facilities, an asphalt walking trail and fishing. Also included within Koser Spring Lake Park is the new Yacht Club community building. Gillette Park, which is the home of the new Bacon Aquatic Center, has been newly renovated and includes a walking path, open shelter and fantastic playground area.
